CAREER DETAILS
THOMAS REES

Tom began his Corporate career in 1983 as a media planner for the advertising firm Benton & Bowles. In 1986 he transitioned to Wall Street and became Director of Marketing for Spear Securities. Tom pioneered a daily financial radio show that led to founding Rees Financial Services, which merged with a public company in 1989. He was President of the firm with 122 employees and 22,000 clients in all 50 states. In 1991 he moved a core group of employees to Prudential Securities, where he earned the coveted license of a fully discretionary money manager. Tom did not not have a single customer complaint found against him in all his 18 years in the business (record available at NASD, now FINRA). After a 2nd stress-related heart operation in 2005, he retired from the firm (then Wachovia Securities) with a $100,000,000 book of business.

Dr. Thomas Rees (Tom's Father) has inspired Tom to carry this new venture to success. He is the sole surviving founder of AMREF, The African Medical Research Foundation. This began as a modest vision shared by two other doctors, simply calling themselves "The Flying Doctors". AMREF is now Africa's largest, non-government health organization, and in 2005 was the recipient of the first investment in Africa made by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. AMREF has also won the Conrad Hilton Humanitarian Award. Award pictures here.

Dr Rees's achievement has inspired Tom to strive to help people in his own way. A void needed to be filled in the recovery industry. Now, a team of individuals have come together to enable a geographical based pictorial web search engine for sober livings and halfway homes. Using it, people in need can have access to the largest database of such facilities in the world.

Tom's full career details and recommendations by his peers can be found on Linked In, the premiere business social site.
